Toomey Graphics was started in 2006. They have several sectors to their business including wood décor, wall decals, murals, vinyl stickers, apparel and more. In terms of Apparel, Inktopious is their Apparel focused division. Inkopious is an Animal Inspired brand started by a husband and wife duo with a passion for everything printed and have a deep love for animals. What started out as a simple drawing of their English Bulldog, has grown into a wide variety of clothing and home goods.
Toomey’s purchased their first Allmade t-shirt in July of 2018 and have been ordering ever since. They primarily print on our Aluminum Grey V-Necks, both Ladies and Unisex.
I had the opportunity to sit down with Steven and ask him some questions about their take on Allmade.
Steven, can you tell me what about Allmade struck your interest?
We knew we wanted to transition to a more eco-friendly brand of shirt. We heard about Allmade and the positive difference you are making both on the environmental and the humanitarian side and what’s not to love.
We know there are several blank apparel brands out there and we would love to know what we can do to become your top pick.
Allmade is already my top pick for a few reasons:
- We love your story and the positive differences you strive to make.
- We love that you are small enough to provide personalized services, yet large enough to keep us stocked with shirts on a consistent basis.
- We love printing on Allmade. On a scale from 1-5, Allmade’s printability is a 5.
What method of Printing do you generally use on Allmade T-shirts?
We primarily use DTG. Allmade tees DTG and screen print great, just keeping in mind that we only use Black ink so I cannot speak to pre-treatment and/or White ink.
As with anything in life, nothing is perfect. We would love to hear the bad and the ugly so we can continuously improve Allmade.
We have found that the end of the seams are not fully cut off and have dangling threads. Although this doesn’t affect the quality of the t-shirt per say, it diminishes the perception of our brand as customers aren’t accustomed to seeing loose threads on apparel. It is also time consuming to clean up to ensure we are providing the highest quality.
Allmade: We understand Steven and are working extremely hard to improve our Quality Control in Haiti.
Also, the neck tags for the men's t-shirts have a very cheap look to them, which doesn’t pan well for the premium shirt that Allmade is.
Allmade: This is great feedback and we will definitely look into what other label options look like.
Can you give us some feedback from your customers?
Our customers love the feel of the shirt and the Allmade story.
FIT: For the most part, customers like the styles and sizes. We do hear feedback that for the larger women sizes (XL and 2XL), they tend to run a size small.
SHRINKAGE: We haven’t received any feedback that t-shirts are shrinking and we haven’t noticed this ourselves either.
Steven, we really appreciate your time and candid responses. This feedback helps other Screen Printers to understand Allmade’s quality, printability and perception.
